In 1888, Whitechapel in the East of End of London, was ravaged by series of grizzly murders. These murders where carried out by an unknown man who was nicknamed ‘Jack the Ripper’.

Jack the Ripper’s Victims

Jack’s victims were typically female prostitutes who lived and worked in Whitechapel district in the East End of London.

As Jack was never caught, its impossible to say how many succumb to his villainy. It widely accepted that there were five victims; Mary Nichols, Annie Chapman, Elizabeth Stride, Catherine Eddowes and Mary Kelly.

Mary Ann Nichols – August 31, 1888

The body of Mary Nichols was found at around 3.40am on August 31, 1888 in a gateway in Buck’s Row, Whitechapel. Mary is believed to have been the first of Jack the Ripper’s five victims.

Annie Chapman – September 8, 1888

Annie Chapman, was the second Jack the Ripper victim. Her body was found in the backyard of number 29 Hanbury Street at 6am on September 8, 1888.

She had been horrifically mutilated having had her womb removed.

Elizabeth Stride – September 30, 1888

The body of Elizabeth Stride was found at 1am in Dutfield’s Yard, off Berner Street on September 30, 1888. Elizabeth Stride was the first of a double murder that night. Her throat had been cut, but the rest of her body had not been touched. This led to speculation that her killer had been interrupted.

Catherine Eddowes – September 30, 1888

The body of Catherine Eddowes, was found in Mitre Square in the City of London at 1.45am on September 30, 1888. Catherine is thought to be the second murder on the same night after the murder of Elizabeth Stride was interrupted .

The killer, is time targeted her face and left with her uterus and left kidney.

Mary Jane Kelly – November 9, 1888

The body of what is thought to be Jack the Ripper’s final victim, Mary Kelly was found in her room in Miller’s Court, Dorset Street, at 10.45am on November 9, 1888. Mary suffered by far, the worse injuries inflicted on any of the victims. She had been virtually skinned to the bone.
